Best course of action, If dying for someone else?

What if I told you, the only purpose of our mortality is to give another being immortality. Would you think me mad? delusional? maybe I'm just quoting the introduction of a movie I have planned to release in 2022 (Some god based movie maybe)?

Well, you wouldn't be wrong if you assumed any of the above, I am quite "mad" in a sense, and ambitiously I have been told I am quite delusional; but in this very post I have posted, I kid you not, I am being very sane and factual. The above scenario is true, nothing more, nothing less. If you are a Zoologist or have some reasonable knowledge of genetics and genes, this idea is not foreign to you.

Struggling through everyday life, from cradle to coffin, to fulfil one pre-programmed instruction, to use energy to turn inorganic matter into organic matter and propagate your genes. In other words to mate so that your genes have another host body to reside in after your time is done. Sounds chilling right? Like one of those alien invader movies, but the aliens are us? Or the aliens made us? Something along those lines I presume. Onto the main topic.

So recently I've been reading the above book, "The Selfish Gene" by Richard Dawkins, and it really has me thinking about a couple things. Before I go on to talk about what I've been thinking, let me give a brief summary of what the book is about.

The basic point it puts forward is that all life (including us) are survival machines in which our selfish genes harbour for a limited time, till our demise. Don't be confused by the personification of genes, they aren't truly conscious or self-aware. The context in which selfishness is used is simply to emphasise the complete disregard of the individual the gene has. Simply put the gene could care less about whether you live, die, feel pain or not as long as you successfully mate. Think of it this way, you like your house (probably), it gives you shelter that's its function. Some genes are less picky, they only need the bare minimum, no flat-screen TV or fancy windows (let's say something along the lines of an insects body, used for no longer than a couple days), some are more classy and want nicer houses, say with full automation and self-regulation (like our human bodies with high-tech consciousness, which can either be a curse or a gift depending on how you look at it. Is the glass half empty or half full? To me... you're two halves fool if you pick the latter (Am I talking about consciousness or the glass?)). Going back on point, like you, if a wall was collapsing, you wouldn't dive right in front of it to stop it from falling (I hope), you'd let it fall and start house hunting before the whole building collapses; genes do something similar, but it's more along the lines of copying itself and part of the "house" when it's "house" is at its peak. But this is not done on purpose by the gene, anything that self replicates is bound to do something similar to this, something that self replicates and prospers will continue to prosper, any replications worse off can't replicate further, ones better off (say with more high-tech features) prosper more.

A quote from the book "Darwin's survival of the fittest is really a special case of a more general law of survival of the stable. The universe is populated by stable things. " helps explain that we are just the logical outcome of self-replication: "stable stuff in the cosmos".

Now onto the main topic. What is the best course of action in this scenario? To say "Simple just don't live mate" is quite... simply put, stupid. Nearly all the genes within you are in every animal on earth. Also, most of your genes are from your parents (nearly half from each one), meaning if you have siblings a good per cent of your genes are in them as well, not to even mention cousins. Also, not mating isn't doing you any favours, at the end of the day, you'll still die. Suicide also does no favours due to the above reasons as well. Maybe it's just far better to live hoping we live in a time where we will one day be able to taste that fountain of youth juice that one clever scientist happens to discover (No need to thank me, you're welcome), or at least a way to upload our consciousness onto a server.

As for me, I'm thinking of doing my genes a favour in future, help them propagate by either finding an excellent partner to gene splice with... or pretty good partners (four or six) to get offspring from and to raise on my own because who can say no to having children, they're basically mini inquisitive yous you get to shape how you would have liked to have been shaped (I'll get a half Asian one, half German one, half Jamaican one... going off-topic). I'll be working on how to get that immortality ting working later. I'll also get myself cryogenically frozen in case we don't live in them immortality times and I don't succeed at making my perfect android host body.

Comment below what you think the best course of action would be...
